PROTECTING NEW ZEALAND'S OCEAN BEACHES FROM HIGHRISE DEVELOPMENT

MEMBERSHIP OF SANDY WALKERS

What is a SANDY WALKER? - Anyone (or anything) who walks on the sand.
What is the SANDY WALKER Group? - A group of people who want to save the beach and sandhills Mauao to Maketu in the Bay of Plenty from “going like Surfers”.
How do I join? - Easy! Just say with meaning, “Save the Sandhills” or “Tiakina nga Onepu”.
It’s free to join! Membership is for life. Whenever you have an opportunity to promote this cause just get on and DO IT.
I heard you have over 2,000 signed up members.
How do I become a “signed up member” of the SANDY WALKER Group? - You need to have signed one of our petitions: We sent one asking Minister of Conservation for a National Park Mauao to Maketu. Our second petition is asking Tauranga City Council to STOP THE HIGH RISES AT MAUAO.

Isn’t that impossible? The high rises at Mauao are already built aren’t they? - The high rises at Mauao are only 1/3 built. It is going to get MUCH WORSE. And don’t forget they can go HIGHER IN FUTURE.

How does the group work? - We spread information, write submissions and lobby councils, MPs etc.

How does the group stay in contact? - By phone, post, Myspace, website, but mainly by email….we need your email address (or that of a friend) so that you can be more in touch. - Also we often have a bus at Papamoa Market.

Members have a standing invitation to contribute to any submission we make.

Are there any rules? - Yes…..”No Litter”.
